It might seem like I have an obsession with toilets, and yes, I kind of do. But not as much as Japan has an obsession with them. And they are so good, that who wouldn’t constantly rave about their gloriousness?

As a well-known fact, Japan has some of the most technologically advanced toilets in the world. It has become a standard for potty care across the entire country, and people living in big cities expect these kinds of toilets to be available to them in public places.

In the US, people are hung up on toilet paper to clean themselves. In Japan, water is the sacred cleanser. It is much more effective and sanitary, and better for the environment as well. Cleansing with water has always been a sacred ritual in Japan. It is ceremonious, and some temples across the country have thorough cleaning rituals at their entrances.

And it’s not just the bidets that have been thought of. Japanese homes are very poorly insulated, so they become cold in the winter, as cold as the temperature outside. And sitting on a cold toilet seat is not a pleasant experience. So in order to combat this dilemma these advanced toilets also have seat heating for those cold winter days.

You can control water pressure and play music, and have a really luxurious experience just from using the bathroom. It’s something that never becomes dull, and people are always on the lookout for the best public toilets yet. The most amazing ones I’ve come across were at a rest stop on a highway. It felt like I had been taken 10 years into the future. And Japan does indeed to be years ahead of the rest of the world in some respects. If you come to Japan, you should definitely try out all the neat functions of these cool little toilets when you use them.
