Tokyo is a metropolis full of interesting and unique places. It is probably the most convenient place in all of Japan, and it has some of the best date spots, both free and high-end. In this article I will introduce some of the most popular and best date spots in Tokyo.
Free – Parks and Mountains
There are a mountain of parks in the heart of the city despite its crowdedness. Inokashira Park, Ueno Park, and Hinokicho Park each have a unique ambiance and lots of unique nature that changes with the seasons. And they’re free to enter too. Perfect for a stroll in after a nice lunch. Mt. Takao is also a free and easy mountain to climb and the scenery is very beautiful. It is also very easy to access. There are trains that go directly there in less than an hour from Shinjuku.
Affordable – Onsens and Cafes
Going to onsens is a relaxing experience, and if you are close enough with your partner, you can easily spend a leisurely day at one for under 1000 yen ($10 USD) per person. Cafes are another common dating spot, although a bit cliched. But there’s nothing wrong with treating your special someone to their favorite drink and enjoying the ambiance of the cafe while enjoying each other’s company.
Unique – TeamLab Digital Art Exhibition and Other Museums
Tokyo has hundreds of museums and exhibitions, but a really neat one is TeamLab’s digital art exhibitions. Each ticket to enter costs around $30 USD to enter, so it is still really affordable, and these exhibitions showcase phenomenal room-sized interactive digital displays that immerse you into a beautiful fantastical world. Words cannot describe how beautiful these exhibits are, and if you have the opportunity to go to one, you definitely should. TeamLab has numerous permanent exhibitions as well as some limited ones, so you will never get bored of the magic!
Luxurious – Shibuya and Ginza
Shibuya and Ginza are very posh areas, and these places are for party-goers and big spenders.They have many high-end stores, restaurants and hotels, and every corner you turn in these neighborhoods has lots of surprises in store. Be prepared to spend a lot of money in these places though!
